JLL have been working closely with University of Reading on plans for a new TV Studio as part of the CineValley development.
The new TV studio will be located on the Gateway Building 2 plot on Thames Valley Science Park and will provide 1,800sqm of floor space and will be 11 metres in height.
The University of Reading will be presenting an application to Wokingham planners for their comment, with the view that Oxfordshire-based company JLLighting will assist in managing the new bespoke TV Studios. This comes alongside discussions progressing with the owners of US-based Blackhall Studios to bring 1 million square feet of new Hollywood-style film studios and supporting facilities to the site in Shinfield.
This first phase is already set to attract significant investment to the region, which will help to support recovery and create a pipeline of jobs, with the film studios alone attracting around £500m of inward investment annually.
The attractive location of Thames Valley Science Park and specialist expertise within the School of Film, Theatre and Television at the University of Reading, has struck a chord with an industry looking to expand production facilities given the growing global demand for content and talent.
